some 46,000 federal, mostly drug-use convicts back “onto the streets” is stirring praise in some corners and criticism in others.

In all corners, it seems — after how drugs have torn this nation apart in the past 40 years or so — it should be stirring reflection though. And then hope, New sentencing guidelines are part of President Obama’s drug reform program. Is this a keeper? Continue reading

Rain, garden lamp lead to failed UFO arrest

UFO backyard

The Scene: This is our garden, looking from behind our bedroom window toward the rear of the yard. Note the position of the lamp (in orange rectangle); and the ribbed bottom of an old pond tub to the right. The world’s getting crazy and crazier, no?! Could it be we’re going back to Square One? Finally? Or are we in for a revolution from the right first? An armed revolution?

Pope Francis, while touring South America now, is on a climate change and environmental roll — decrying adverse effects of unbridled capitalism and what this newest false-worship-of-money practice, another idolatry, has meant on the poor, and the world’s environment! Continue reading
